WAIT-AWAIT
Ambos significan esperar, pero se usan con
objetos diferentes.
AWHILE: Es
un adverbio.
La palabra “await” es un término formal y es usado en
cartas, emails and poesía.
El objeto de 'await' es normalmente inanimado, no una persona, y a menudo abstracto. So you can't say, 'John was awaiting me'. Se
dice John is waiting me.
Ej. I
am awaiting your reply.
(Estoy esperando tu
respuesta)
Ej. The
neighbors await the birth of their first child.
(Los vecinos esperan el nacimiento de su primer hijo)
Ej: I will await
your call.
(Esperaré tu llamada)
O bien : I will wait for you to call.
Ej: I am waiting the news.
(Estoy
esperando las noticias)
WAIT: Se
usa con personas. Excepción: horas. Generalmente va acompañado de la
preposición for.
Ej. "I waited for at least an
hour."
(Te esperé al menos una hora)
Ej. “I had
to wait on line for an hour to get the tickets”
Ej. “The dog is waiting for his dinner.”
Ej. “I am waiting for you”
