FOR AND DURING
During: During es una preposición, la que es usada antes de un sustantivo
(during + noun)
para decir cuándo algo sucede. No se refiere a cuánto tiempo dura.
Example:
"Nobody spoke during the presentation."
"We get plenty of snow
here during the
winter."
During'en cambio se usa para períodos de tiempo
generales y no para un período definitivo
de tiempo como 18 minutos.
You can say: during
the afternoon/the day/the holiday/the week
During + sustantivo: señala el momento durante el cual se desarrolla la acción, NO la duración
de ésta. Indica un periodo de tiempo que tiene nombre propio.
During the summer - Durante el verano
During the concert - Durante el concierto
During the meal - Durante la comida
During the holidays - Durante las vacaciones
During the Middle Ages - Durante la Edad Media
During my childhood - Durante mi infancia
During the summer - Durante el verano

For: For is a preposition which is used
with a period to say how long something goes on:
"Simon has been
sleeping for 8 hours."
"We waited for 30
minutes outside your house."
For one week - Por una semana
For two years,... Por dos años
